Ways to Give

Brittany Jacobs of Hertford, NC, hugs her 17-month old son Christian at her husband, Marine SGT Christopher Jacobs' gravesite in Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day at in Arlington, VA, USA on 28 May, 2012.

There are many options for you to become involved in making a difference in the lives of these children by providing hope through a future college education. Please know that every dollar counts, as all monies are pooled together in the scholarship funds.

We want people to know that it doesn't matter the size or type of gift - you can be a part of these children's lives in any way that works best for your personal situation. We work hard to make it easy for everyone to be included in our mission for the children.

1
Outright Gifts:

You may donate in a variety of ways such as cash, securities, real estate or insurance.

2
In-Kind Gifts:

You may donate your professional services, items for events, and items that might benefit our scholarship recipients.

3
Volunteering:

Sometimes, the best gift of all is the gift of time.  Every year, we have a series of tasks and deadlines leading up to our fundraiser.  Help for those, as well as the Warrior Ride, is incredibly valuable.

4
Planned Gifts:

You may designate the Willis Foundation as beneficiary through vehicles such as pension plans, insurance policies, estate plans (through a will or trust), and charitable remainder trusts.

Memorials

In lieu of flowers, many like to designate gifts to a charity in memory a loved one who has passed away.

Families who lose a loved one may ask for memorial gifts to be designated to the Willis Foundation. In this case, we will create donation cards with your loved one’s name and deliver them to the funeral home.

Your loved one’s name is then added to our Memorial Tribute and you receive notification of everyone who donated in their memory (donation amounts are always kept confidential). Ask your funeral home director to contact us for donation cards.

Individuals may choose to send a gift to the Willis Foundation in memory of someone at any time. The Foundation will then make sure the family of the deceased knows you made a memorial gift, and their name will be added to our Memorial Tribute.

Honorariums

Want to honor someone, but unsure what to buy them or how to congratulate them? Or are you missing your loved one who has passed away and you want to remember them in some way on their birthdays or other special days?

You may designate gifts to the Willis Foundation in their honor. Ideas for honoring others may include birthdays, retirements, promotions, graduations, anniversaries, and so on. Honorary gifts for those who have passed on may include gifts on their birthday, holidays, or other days that are special.

Donation cards will be created with the honorarium's name and provided for someone's retirement party, graduations, and so on. The honorary individual's name will be added to the Honorarium Tribute, and they will receive notification from the Foundation of all individuals who donate on their behalf (donation amounts are always kept confidential).

Gifts in honor of a lost loved one is a great way to keep their memory alive. Gifts designated to the Foundation for these individuals are also added to the Honorarium Tributes, and the Foundation will send a notification that you made an Honorary gift to anyone you desire.
